The first way that is most used is known as monopolar electrocautery. In this method, the electric current is transferred to an electrode (mainly a cautery pen) through an interface and a wire and enters the tissue to make a cut or clot (bleeding control). The electrode burns the bleeding vessels and thus prevents the bleeding or helps to cut the tissue. Finally, the flow leaves the patient’s body through the plate and the plate-cautery interface. The second way is used in cases where the bleeding is low and close to sensitive points and tissues. This method is called bi-polar electrocautery. In this method, a very weak electric current should be used so that the surrounding tissue is not damaged.
