The tip of the electrocautery system transfers the necessary heat for cutting and coagulation to the patient’s tissue due to the passage of electric current through a resistance wire embedded inside. According to the pen and pen head used, the surgeon can perform coagulation or cutting. Pen heads have different shapes and sizes for different surgeries.
